Our Story

Amidst the global, COVID-19 pandemic, violists Kasey Calebaugh and Caty Dalton had a dream to create a magical haven where colleagues and musicians could gather to live, learn, rehearse, and perform great chamber music together. The dream would become reality called Bach at the Rock. BATR is a two - week long, chamber music intensive for graduate-level string musicians passionate about pursuing performance and community service through music. Located at beautiful Rock Island, outside of Nashville, TN, an intimate group of performers focus on one to two major works in the chamber music literature, working alongside a dynamic faculty. Program participants receive daily coachings and European style masterclasses where special attention will be paid to the development of leadership skills, string techniques, and to learning the delicate art of cooperation and performance in a chamber setting. Our mission is to develop life-long creative thinkers, compassionate collaborators, and cultural ambassadors through the study of, exposure to, and the performance of chamber music.
